On Tuesday 27th April 2021, Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) held an event for the 27th commemoration of the genocide against the Tutsi in particular memory of employees of the former institutions merged into RAB who were victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. The event took place at RAB’s Rubona station located in Rusatira Sector, Huye District.
After a lecture that was virtually given in order to contain the spread of covid-19 pandemic and laying wreaths onto the Rubona genocide memorial site where 182 bodies of genocide victims are laid to rest, the event carried on at the Songa genocide memorial site where 13 bodies of victims of the genocide against the Tutsi recovered from Gafumba, Kimuna, Mugogwe and Kimirehe cells in Huye District were accorded decent burial.
Dr Patrick Karangwa, the Director General of RAB said that intellectuals who had the responsibility to ensure the welfare of Rwandans gave the worst example by taking part in planning and execution of the genocide against the Tutsi, which led their subordinates to massively participate. He added that commemoration should be the source of strength to preserve the unity of Rwandans.
