Wednesday, on 21st December 2022, The Deputy Director General in charge of Animal resources Development Officiated the Graduation ceremony of 413 Farmer Field School (FFS) Facilitators on Poultry, Pig, Maize and Soybean.
The graduates received their training at their respective sites countrywide, including Rwamagana, Bugesera, Rulindo, Gicumbi, Musanze, Rubavu, Rusizi, Nyamagabe, Gisagara, Muhanga, Kamonyi, Kayonza, Ngoma, Kirehe, Nyagatare na Gatsibo District.
413 Farmer Field School (FFS) Facilitators graduated to impacting more than 20,000 organized rural farmers through agricultural extension services in order to boost the value chains for poultry and pigs in 10 districts that are given priority.
Among the graduates, 300 Farmer Field School (FFS) Facilitators officially graduated through the RAB program funded by Enabel/ PRISM- to apply learning by doing skills/practices in improving livestock husbandry practices for market-oriented value chain development, while 113 farmers’ facilitators graduated in Soya and Maize crops production.
The Belgian Development Agency (ENABEL) funded projects aligned with the national priorities featured in the Strategic Plan for the Transformation of Agriculture phase 4 (PSTA-4), the National Strategy for Transformation (NST-1) and the National Agriculture Policy (NAP).
ENABEL supports reforms and transformation of the Pig and Poultry value chains by facilitating the private sector to drive growth, investments and innovations. The choice of these two named value chains is related to their potential for inclusive growth, market growth and competitiveness as well as resilience to climate change.
