High Level Conference on Transforming Smallholder Farming in Africa through Innovative Agricultural Technologies

On the 29th October 2019, The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) through Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board (RAB), and the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) together key players in agriculture and agribusiness from public and private sectors in Rwanda, including policy makers, Government institutions, researchers, academia, youth organizations and investors in the sector had a high-level round table meeting on “Transforming smallholder farming through innovative agricultural technologies” and also discussed on recent experiences and how to build on momentum towards utilization of innovative agricultural technologies through concrete actions on what African agricultural sector needs to do to move the needle on food and nutrition security.

The forum also showcased the current and potential impact of application of innovative agricultural technologies by smallholder farmers for improving agricultural productivity, value addition and poverty reduction, examine challenges and opportunities for development and uptake of innovative technologies by smallholder farmers, and build consensus on how to support uptake and use of innovative technologies to spur economic growth, create jobs and enhance food and nutrition security.
