Thursday 24th June 2021. Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board Launches 19 Varieties of Beans. The Launch was officiated by the Deputy Director General of Agriculture Research and Technology Transfer Dr BUCAGU Charles. The event was conducted at Rwerere Station in Burera District, Northern Province.
In his remarks, Dr Bucagu Charles encouraged farmers to use the new launched varieties of beans to increase their production, as beans is a key crop of significant economic and social importance in Rwanda. He recognized the role of different stakeholders in the bean value chain toward the development of Agriculture in Rwanda.
The 19 new Beans varieties launched include 13 Climbers and 6 Bush, and among them 8 are high in iron and zinc content while the remaining are high yielding, with good agronomic and market preferred traits.
