On 09th March 2022, The Director General of Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board, Dr Patrick KARANGWA visited KOPABUHU, a beekeeper’s cooperative that works in Huye District, Southern Province.
The cooperative is made of 16 members, 15 of them are youths. Uwingeneye Patrick, the President of the cooperative lauded RAB for its support that includes: beehives,processing equipments, trainings, technical support and many more which he says it helped them to enhance honey productivity. Patrick said that so far, the cooperative owns 152 modern beehives which produce approximately 8 tones to 9 per year.
The Director General thanked them for their courage and passion in beekeeping; he also pledged RAB support to help them to increase honey yield.
